Toronto, July 4, 2011 Sony of Canada Ltd. is pleased to announce the Sony Canada Charitable Foundation (SCCF) Annual Golf Classic has reached a five-year milestone. Since 2007, Sony of Canada and partners have collectively raised a total of $521,724 in support of SCCF charities including Make-A-Wish and Earth Day Canada's EcoKids Program.

"As a company, we strongly believe in giving back to our communities and we feel privileged to have the opportunity to help lift children's spirits," said Doug Wilson, President & COO, Sony of Canada. "Our five-year partners have helped us achieve this milestone in our fifth year of the SCCF Annual Golf Classic thanks to their ongoing support and generosity."

The Sony Canada Charitable Foundation's Golf Classic five-year partners include Accord, Acuity, BLM, CRSA Ryder, Lindt, Monster Cable, Nesel, Nippon, Purolator, Scalar, Sony Music, Sony Ericsson, Sony Computer Entertainment, Sony Pictures, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, and Calyx Transportation Group.

The Sony Canada Charitable Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to the betterment of children, the environment and the community. Through funding from Sony of Canada and fundraising activities involving employees, dealers, suppliers and customers, the foundation supports Make-A-Wish, the United Way of Canada, Earth Day Canada, and Children's hospitals across Canada.

All funds raised from the fifth SCCF Golf Classic have been given to Make-A-Wish and towards supplying Sony Entertainment centres in children's hospitals in Canada. These centres are colourful portable entertainment units equipped with a Bravia TV and home theatre system, and the latest Blu-ray movies. They are designed to provide young hospital patients with an escape from the difficult environment around them.

To date, the Sony Canada Charitable Foundation has donated 23 entertainment centres to hospitals across the country, from BC Children's Hospital to Sainte-Justine Hospital in Quebec.
