Sony® mobile electronics line expands with new digital media receivers: DSX-S100, DSX-S200X and DSX-S300BTX

Sony's first systems to feature TuneTray™ for iPod®, WALKMAN® MP3 player or other USB-based digital media device instead of a CD

TORONTO, June 8, 2010 -  Sony Canada today announced a completely new car audio concept born to truly allow users to bring their digital music wherever they go.  Experience a new way to enjoy music in your car from your iPod, WALKMAN, or other USB devices with the new DSX-SX100, DSX-S200X, and DSX-S300BTX digital media receivers from Sony.

These are Sony's first receivers to feature TuneTray™, an internal mechanical compartment to accomodate any digital media player instead of a CD mechanism. Eliminating the need to have visible wires inside the car, these new head units have a sleek faceplate that flips down and outputs the TuneTray, complete with an iPod adapter. Once connected to a digital media player, the faceplate flips back up and maintains standard functions.

"In the mobile electronics industry, Sony strives to deliver trend setting products ahead of the industry curve," said Tim Algate, Product Manager- Mobile Electronics at Sony of Canada Ltd..  "With these new digital media receivers, we've combined advanced connectivity features with state-of-the-art audio technologies to create the ultimate in-car entertainment experience."

The DSX-S100 features a 2-line LCD display with blue illumination and front auxillary input, whereas the DSXS-200X and DSX-S300BTX feature a crystal-clear OEL 4-line display with red or blue illumination and a second external USB connection.  In addition, the DSX-S300BTX goes a step further, featuring built-in Bluetooth® technology for hands-free calling and wireless music streaming.  For those who prefer to keep a USB drive in the TuneTray while carrying around another portable player or mobile/smart phone that's constantly updated with new tunes, the front and double USB connection comes in handy.  With the OEL 4-line display you can get more information with the familiar look & feel of your digital music player.

Music selection is a breeze with SensMe™ channels which analyzes a connected music library to create custom playlists and radio channels (available on DSX-S200X & DSX-S300BTX models only). When you're not sure what you want to listen to, one touch of the "ZAP" button initiates the ZAPPIN™ feature, scanning and playing highlight clips of your music collection so you can catch the song you want to hear at that moment.  With Quick-BrowZer™ you can search by artist, album, genre, playlist, file or folder by simply rotating the volume dial and pressing to select.

Advanced Sound Engine is Sony's original Digital Sound Processor (DSP), which provides an ideal in-car sound field. It contains features such as EQ7, Listening Position (Time Alignment), DM+ advanced, Rear Bass Enhancer and Dynamic Loudness.

The DSX-S100 is available this month for $179.99 at http://www.sonystyle.ca/ as well as all authorized retailers nationwide. The DSX-S300BTX and DSX-S200X will be available in Septembert for about $299.99 & $269.99 respectively at http://www.sonystyle.ca/ as well as authorized retailers nationwide.
