TORONTO GIRLS REACH FOR THE TOP TO CAPTURE SPECTACULAR PANORAMAS

TORONTO, September 21, 2009 – As a proud supporter of Girl !mpact, an innovative non-profit whose mission is to empower girls to champion each other creating the most direct route to positive social change, Sony Canada is giving eleven local girls the latest Cyber-shot® digital camera and accessories to shoot spectacular panoramas from the height of their adventure atop Mount Kilimanjaro.

Eleven girls from five schools in Scarborough, Ontario have been trained, coached and mentored for nine months to prepare for a Mount Kilimanjaro ascent this month. In turn, these determined, bright young women have worked alongside mentors such as Olympian Marnie McBean, to collectively raise $50,000 in an effort to send 10 girls in Kenya to secondary school.

"We wish them great success on their trek and look forward to seeing the experience through their lenses."

The girls will take breathtaking panoramic images using Sony's DSC-TX1 Cyber-shot® digital camera featuring Sweep Panorama Mode. They'll also take along the new Sony GPS-CS3KA Image Tracker, to geotag their images so they can easily map their photos of mountains, wildlife, and sunsets. Matching Sony camera cases will protect the cameras from the elements, and Sony batteries and memory sticks will ensure they never miss the perfect shot.
