New Sony Mini DV Tape Camcorders Suit The Needs of Family Videographers

Easy-to-use Handycam camcorders perfect for first-time camcorder

Toronto, ON – Sony this week announces three mini DV Handycam® models with feature sets. With Carl Zeiss® lenses and easy-to-use features, the DCR-HC62, DCR-HC54 and DCR-HC52 are affordable options for the first-time camcorder owner looking for a camera that provides exceptional video and picture quality.

The new DCR-HC62 camcorder integrates a 25x optical Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar® zoom lens and a 1-megapixel CCD imager that provides excellent video and 1-megapixel digital still photos. For easy framing and viewing of footage, the model is equipped with a 2.7-inch wide (16:9) LCD touch panel screen. It has a Memory Stick PRO Duo™ media for easy management of photos, as well as a USB port for transferring video to a compatible PC and other devices.

For the consumer that wants to catch every last detail, the DCR-HC52 model integrates a powerful 40x optical Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar® zoom lens that can easily zoom onto distant subjects with minimal loss of picture quality. It has a 680K-pixel CCD imager and a 2.5-inch LCD touch panel screen. The DCR-HC54 comes with a USB port, USB cable and a PC application software for transferring video to compatible PCs and other devices.
All mini DV models include a helpful, on-screen usage guide that explains the menu functions, Super SteadyShot® image stabilization for smoother video, and color viewfinders.
