CONNECT is designed to allow music aficionados to get the most out of their digital music experience. Songs can be downloaded at any time. Transferring from a computer to a Walkman digital music player or any other ATRAC compatible device is very simple. CONNECT will offer content from all major music labels as well as hundreds of independent labels.
"We are very excited about launching Sony's CONNECT music service in Canada," says Gabrielle Holmes, Senior Marketing Manager, Portable Audio Products, Sony of Canada Ltd. "With this launch we can now offer Canadian consumers a comprehensive online music service to complement their Walkman digital music players."
Three Days Grace kicks off CONNECT
Sony is supporting the Canadian launch of CONNECT through sponsorship of the current Canadian tour of rock group Three Days Grace. Fans that visit the Walkman Listening Lounge at any Three Days Grace concert can collect a postcard that includes a code for three free CONNECT downloads. The tracks available for free download were selected by members of Three Days Grace.
"CONNECT not only offers Canadians an alternative destination for online music, but provides music lovers with lots of great features such as radio, free previews and exclusive ‘CONNECT sets'," commented Jim Holland, Vice President International, Sony Connect Inc. "These sets include songs by up and coming artists that were recorded live acoustically at the CONNECT studio in Santa Monica. Several recordings have been made by artists such as The Decemberists and We are Scientists, that we believe are on the verge of achieving popular acclaim."
The CONNECT service will complement Sony's line-up of digital music players, including the newly announced S700 series Walkman with noise canceling technology. The Canadian music service is powered by SonicStage CP Ver.4.2, which will be available for download at www.sonyconnect.ca/download.
Sony's CONNECT service currently has operations in the United States and in nine European countries through its affiliates. The Canadian service will be available at www.sonyconnect.ca.

About Three Days Grace:
Coming off the success of THREE DAYS GRACE's 2003 double platinum self-titled release, One X debuted at #2 and went platinum in less than 4 weeks! The first single "Animal I Have Become" reached #1 on the rock radio chart, and the second single "Pain" is climbing its way there now. A raw, confessional album, One-X is simultaneously the story of front man Adam Gontier's personal destruction on the road, and a universal tale of feeling like an outsider. Part of learning he was not alone came from learning his band mates felt similarly isolated, dismayed with the falseness of life on the road. One-X is a roller coaster ride through Gontier's psyche. Intensely honest, Gontier leaves nothing out; it sounds as if he's ripping pages from his journal. THREE DAYS GRACE has developed a new sense of purpose; what started out as fear and pain has led to confidence and triumph.
