SONY LAUNCHES NEW WALKMAN® VIDEO MP3 PLAYER

Sony of Canada Ltd. today announced the launch of the new NW-A800 series Walkman® Video MP3 Player.

Toronto, Ontario - Sony of Canada Ltd. today announced the launch of the new NW-A800 series Walkman® Video MP3 Player. This stylish, ultra-slim Walkman gives consumers the opportunity to take a variety of digital content with them wherever they go. The new Walkman Video MP3 Player offers an unparalleled visual and audio experience without compromising screen size. Walkman has always stood for portability and now customers can store everything – whether it's a favorite video clip, treasured photo, or music library – in one incredibly compact package.

Gabrielle Holmes, Senior Marketing Manager, Portable Audio and Connect products, Sony of Canada Ltd., says "The new Walkman Video MP3 player combines the best visual experience with the ultimate in Sony sound technology. As the newest member of the Sony family, the Walkman Video MP3 player is sure to delight and entertain our customers. This tiny player lets them take their favorite music, personal or downloaded movies, and digital images with them whenever and wherever they go."

Video on the Go
The Walkman Video MP3 player is small enough to slip into any pocket yet features a 2" QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) color TFT LCD screen that offers unbeatable clarity, high contrast and supreme color reproduction. Videos can be viewed both horizontally and vertically to further enhance the entertainment experience. Downloading video content is easy with simple drag and drop functionality. Video playback supports popular MPEG-4 and AVC(H.264/AVC) Baseline profile formats at up to 30 frames per second. This allows customers to enjoy video clips downloaded from the Internet or personal/family videos recorded through a video camera like a Sony Handycam® camcorder. File conversion, if needed, can be performed through the supplied ImageConverter software.

Photo on the Go
Offering consumers yet another way to share their photos, the Walkman Video MP3 player supports jpeg image storage, viewing and slideshow. Favorite snapshots taken with a digital still camera, such as a Sony Cyber-shot®, can be accompanied in a slideshow by favourite tunes. Easy navigation lets customers view the images in various formats including thumbnails, lists and photo-by-photo. Taking treasured memories on the go, whether still or video, is now easier than ever.

Music on the Go
The Walkman brand has long been associated with the highest quality in audio playback and the Walkman Video MP3 player continues to uphold this standard with three clear audio technologies. "Clear Stereo" and "Clear Bass" are included in the NW-A800 series Walkman, and Sony's newly developed Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) restores the high frequency range typically lost in compression. These audio technologies are enhanced by the supplied high quality, popular 13.5mm EX headphones. To complement the NW-A800's outstanding audio quality, the Sony CONNECT ™ online music store (www.sonyconnect.ca) offers high quality downloads that cater to all music lovers with a range of more than 1 million tracks spanning all genres and musical tastes.

Long Battery Life
For consumers that have been disappointed when an MP3 player's battery dies halfway through a great song or video, the Walkman Video MP3 player has extended battery stamina that provides up to 30 hours of continuous music playback or 8 hours of continuous video playback, which exceeds similar players currently in the Canadian market.

User Friendly Interface
Pulling it all together is a very friendly user interface that makes searching for video, photo and sound tracks in the library easier than ever. Using the iconic images from the main menu of the Walkman NW-A800, customers can find any song easily by filtering through album, artist or genre and display the lists of album, photos and videos with image thumbnails.

The Walkman Video MP3 player is available in three memory sizes: 2GB, 4GB and 8GB with three color options: Jet Black, Pearl Pink and Snow White. A range of optional accessories, including a carrying case, neck strap, cradle and car kit, will be available at launch. Sony's A2DP stereo Bluetooth audio kit (WLA-NWB1) provides a wireless music solution for those with stereo Bluetooth enabled audio devices such as headphones, portable speakers or in car entertainment. For the home, the sleek, compact cradle-style audio speaker system (CPF-NW001) releases music through powerful 25W speakers and subwoofer for crystal clear sound quality.

The Walkman Video MP3 Player NW-A800 series will be available in Canada in May 2007 at an MSRP of $169 for 2GB, $229 for 4GB and $299 for 8GB.
