Sony Recognized in Top 50 Socially Responsible Corporations in Canada by Maclean's/Jantzi-Sustainalytics

Sony has been recognized by Maclean's/Jantzi-Sustainalytics as one of Canada's top 50 socially responsible corporations.

"This recognition is an honour and testament to Sony of Canada's activities including our national electronics program," said Doug Wilson, President & COO, Sony of Canada Ltd. "I am very proud of the environmental impact of our electronics recycling program in Canada since it launched three years ago."

Since its launch in April 2008, Sony of Canada's national electronics program has diverted more than 205,000 kilograms of old electronics from landfills. The program has also doubled the number of retail collection sites across Canada.

Maclean's/Jantzi-Sustainalytics also recognized Sony for incorporating vegetable-based raw materials into product packaging to reduce use of conventional plastics derived from petroleum sources.
